    Re: SUPERBOWL APOLOGY THREAD

    Stat of the Week

3: It has now been three seasons in a row in which the final pass of Brett Favre's season was a disaster. His last pass of the 2007 NFC Championship Game, playing for the Packers, was that awful overtime interception to Corey Webster of the Giants. This year, with the Vikings, was the pick to Tracy Porter with just 15 seconds left in regulation. And last year, playing for the Jets, was the interception thrown to Miami's Andre' Goodman.

Wait. Actually ... no. That wasn't Favre's last pass as a Jet. His last pass came the next time he had the ball in his hands with 17 seconds remaining in New York's season. And that resulted in an illegal forward pass. So 2008 did NOT end with an interception. I repeat: Brett Favre was not intercepted on his final pass of 2008. Only on his second-to-last pass. His last pass resulted in a penalty. Deal with THAT, haters.

Do i think the vikings got fucked in OT with that BS pass interference call?  yes...but i will say thats not what lost them the game. The saints did not win that game, the vikings lost it

    Re: SUPERBOWL APOLOGY THREAD

Pete there is no question that the Vikings screwed this up big time. I just dont want to have Josh running around like an untrained monkey thinking that Favre cost them the game. They had the 2 huge fumbles first to end the half and than Harvins that led to the easy TD for the Saints. The only thing that will make this right is another hurricane taking down the Superdome.

You mean experts like Ed Werder and the rest of the complete asshats that work at ESPN? I am not sure when the change took place but ESPN is now the National Inquirer of sports reporting. Also the 12 men in the huddle penalty was the reason Favre even had to throw so again not his fault they lost the game. Everytime you speak about football it is clear to me why Alabama has NO professional sports teams.

    Re: SUPERBOWL APOLOGY THREAD

favre didnt have to throw, all he had to do was run up the field.

     from tmq

"It was not enough for Favre's team to reach the Super Bowl -- he had to get the credit. Game tied with 19 seconds remaining, Favre scrambled at about the New Orleans 40-yard line, with open field ahead of him. All he needed to do was run a few yards, hook-slide, call timeout, and the Vikings' strong-legged kicker, Ryan Longwell, had a solid chance to win the NFC championship. But the credit had to go to Favre; he had to throw a spectacular pass at the end, so television announcers would swoon. So he heave-hoed a dramatic across-the-field pass. It was intercepted, and the Saints won in overtime."

    Re: SUPERBOWL APOLOGY THREAD

Oh why are you people arguing? The fact of the matter is the better team did not win. The saints played like shit, the colts are going to roll on the saints, it is not going to be a good super bowl. The vikings killed themselves in this one, and it was not Farve's fault. Hell, it shows how good he is, even with his team fumbling the ball left and right he still kept them in the game.

Farve was still throwing passes on target even with his O-Line failing time after time. The man got hit 15 + times and sprained his ankle and was still picking apart the saints. He was and still is the original SUPERMAN. The Colts have a much better O-Line with the most accurate passer in the league. This Super Bowl is going to be a blow out.

My question is how bad are the SAINTS. How the hell do you play a team that pretty much give you the ball off of 5 turnovers and you still barely win the game? It took a stupid 12 men in the huddle penalty and a bogus pass interference call to win them the game.

    Re: SUPERBOWL APOLOGY THREAD

For some reason Josh hates Favre and wants to use this as a reason to hate on him. He cant and wont admit that he played great all season including the last game.

    Re: SUPERBOWL APOLOGY THREAD

Farve could have gotten 3 or 4 yards on that last play if he ran the ball maybe, but with a hurt ankle I'm not sure why they called a roll out play for him, they could have called a screen, a shuffle pass, or even run the ball to get a few yards.  Farve also didn't throw it to the endzone to finish the game so everyone would swoon over him like you are trying to say josh.

    Re: SUPERBOWL APOLOGY THREAD

well of course favre had a good season.  i hate him because he thinks he is more important than the game.  he holds teams hostage every year not committing to retire or come back, they should know before the draft whether he is playing or not.  he does this to put the attention on himself and skip training camp.  he is a prima donna and most of the media lets him skate by as some folk hero.

    Re: SUPERBOWL APOLOGY THREAD

lol ok josh..how is he holding a team like the jets or vikings hostage? they chose to put themselves into that situation. They didnt have to persue farve. the fact is he is old and has a family so the decision to come back and play is not a a very simple one. Farve is anything but a prima donna..he is one of the most loved players in the history of the NFL..the guy is the cal ripkin of the NFL. He is loved by all of his teammates. If there is another fiasco of about him coming back next year it will because the vikings will be begging him to come back again. He is like any other athlete out there who still thinks they can play past there prime (and he actually can)

    Re: SUPERBOWL APOLOGY THREAD

Uh, the jets loved him, he increased ticket sales, he filled seats and he bought them to an actual decent record.

And he TOLD them his bicep was messed up, but they (Jets Management) decided he was their best chance to win. So they kept him in the all the final games of the season. That is on the Jets. When Superman says, hey something is wrong with my arm, you might wanna listen. There was even an investigation. Honestly it just shows how bad their back up quarterback was if they would rather have Farve with a bad arm play.
